I have finished the BW expansion (using my transfered DS2 team) & decided to re-play DS2 from the beginning using a new character & the BW expansion to see what it would be like. I had been thru the Kithraya Hives, knocked off the hive queen, claimed my reward & was into the Azunite desert area. Decided to buff up a bit, as I was having probs there, so went back & ran thru all the areas from the beginning just to battle the monsters. Went back thru the hives, most of the boss monsters were gone, but the regulars were providing enough experience to level up a bit, so I kept going. Got to the queen's lair, & there she was again, & I got to battle her again. I don't remember quest monsters respawning before. Is this a new feature or a bug? Not that I object, since the object was to buff up, but it seems odd.

Insects and arthropods are well known for their regenerative capabilities.

In the case of the hive queen, I've never seen her respawn naturally. I know that she always respawns when you reload the game though.

Maybe there's a huge stockpile of eggs that hatch into new queens somewhere in the caverns :P

Pesticide? Heavens, no! At least for the moment, she's useful for buffing up.

Pesticides? Rachel Carson is turning over in her grave, I'm sure.

Well, I think in ant colonies, the abscence of the queen and her sterility-inducing abilities (the technical term eludes me at the minute) makes a normally-sterile worker able to become the new queen. Obviously the people at GPG hired an entomologist to make sure this was all implemented properly.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
