Well I have finished the single player game and I will see if I have any problems in multiplayer. I will have to do some research as I could not host in DS1 without changes and then it worked fine. I hosted all games I played in for the most part.
I did not think they had changed the internet connection method for DSII, so I would think all that applied before applies now. Routers with new firewall methods could cause a problem I guess. I would think what I stated above would still hold true. If you set the router properly, or turned off the firewall in it and/or ran one on the PC, you could solve this issue.
I have a fairly extensive internal network and I also have a linksys router so I will be able to check this out. I will try to do so this week some time. I will setup my PC on the back side of the linksys and see what happens. Now it is behind a cisco which required no changes to the way I originally set it up. But my PC did. I just reloaded my PC about 6 months ago and had to set it up again to play DS1. So I really cannot speak on this until I see if I can duplicate the problem.
Though right out of the box I think Cellwind is onto something.
I still think that it is not any particular router but the way it/or the PC is setup. I can see where default setting on particular routers can create an issue. I would also like to know the source for "They have come out and said that the have issues with the Linksys and other routers" and what the issues are. I would like to read this if you can point out where you read this Gravedigger.
I would bet that it has to do with the default factory settings for "Linksys and other routers" oppossed to they cannot be made to function. Basic net protocal is basic net protocal. But.... as I said, I really cannot speak on this until I see if I can duplicate the problem. I could be blowing alot of hot air.I will get in touch with a friend I know has DSII and set a time with him to see if I can duplicate this issue. If so and I get it to work I will of course pass on how I did it.
When I whisper of deep dark space
Or ponder upon that of the rhyme of time
I find there is no change in the words of rhyme
Whereas there is in both space and time
