All of my mages and ranged characters are very well armored. The mages because of their secondary melee skills. It doesn't matter, which character the enemies go after. I often just let the mages attack with melee weapons, so the damage tends to be reasonably balanced and no one character tends to be ganged up upon. I also have cripple set in autocast, which is always in effect and really slows down the attacking enemies.

wel just set your party at mirror mode and let your melee fighter get close to the enemy then let all attack that monster , cause that monster first was attacked bij your melee character it wil fight him/her and most of the other monsters wil fight him to because he is the closest enemy near them m.havent figured it al out but mostly this wil cause that mainly the melee character takes damage
also keep him the active character , i had to use this alot cause my mages are pretty weak, they can only kill the easy kils in a 1 to 1 fight

rvd chaos, that WORKS, but try keeping up pressing mirror/Rampage and employing that strategy every single fight, for 10 hours. You would go crazy too.

Get a Mythrillhorn from the quest, feed it lots of melee armor and weapons, and when he is an adult you won't have your ranger getting attacked near as much.
