For the X: That is part of Deru's Side Quest. To activate it take Deru to the prospector just beyond the Aman'lu Pet Shop.

And what person do you talk about?

Are you talking about the green dots that appear in the minimap/compass, but you can't get to them?

You need to have Finala in your group, and you must be playing the "More/secret Morden Towers" task, later in the game, to get up there. (They are Morden that turn to be your enemy when you go near them...)

Maid, I don't think that will be necessary.

You can open the tomb of agarrus during the Mace of Agarrus side quest in act 3. It involves a bit of running around in the snowbrook grotto too.

And to set the mad guy in the desert loose, you'll need Arinth's Staff. Complete the Arinth's Legendary Staff side quest in act 2 to get it, and then you can do the Arinth The Mad side quest once you set the lunatic free. That's a side quest you definitely want to do, as you get two bonus skill points to spend after completing it.
