I am playing DS2BW, with a solo Melee-Nature. Right now, he has...

Critical Strike 8, Dual Wield 1, Alacrity 4
Enveloping Embrace 1
Tremor 3
Brutal Attack 3, Waves of Force 1, Invulnerability 1, Earthquake Aura 1

Still in Act I, final chapter. Playing without any loot mods, so I'm having trouble finding enough Lightning Resistance against Haku lightning spells, that seem to have insane range.

** I'm trying NOT to use healing potions ** and so far I have been able to, luckily enough. I'm stuck at the Haku Usurper, who stays in the middle of the chamber, so it's a long way to run to the exit and around the wall to hide.
If I'm lucky, I can sometimes escape with the 6 seconds of Invulnerability, but clearly that trick only works once per combat, since it needs to recharge.
I can't kill the bosses fast enough, even when opening with a Brutal Attack and using Rejuvenating Weapons.

Short of using Deru to farm potions, is there a good tactic against mage-bosses without resorting to a ton of potions?

How come you got points in Enveloping Embrace without any in Aquatic Affinity?

Something you may want to think about is to gain just five levels in Ranged just so you can get some levels in Survival, then when you've got 36 Nature Magic you can reallocate those points to Absorption. Maybe a few points in Fortitude too.

All else fails, come back later, as the Usurper is a sidequest. Just a few level gains can make monsters much easier to kill.

You might try to use the nearby incantation shrine.

How fun it is to have powers regenerate after use
(PS. Without lootmod (not having one either; makes it alot more fun... IMO) you can still gain certainly some +electrical resistance with the first Fixed Set (Nature's Vigilance))

Best answer so far is a store-expansion mod, and using self-enchanted items.
Surprisingly cheap to enchant four +16% resistance rings and an amulet.
(The store expansion mod saves me from reloading to get what I need.)

Even at 80%, I still do need to retreat, but it is now actually feasible.
